Parallel Lives - The Glue Factory Fall Project 2014
We carry the world in our pockets. We overlook those across the table while simultaneously texting others across the globe -- reaching out endlessly, hoping for more. Award-winning choreographer Beth Corning directs and dances the world premiere of Parallel Lives, her evening-length, multi-disciplinary dancetheater duet co-starring Bessie award-winning dancer Arthur Aviles (former principal with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane). Set design is by Pittsburgh Center for the Arts "Artist of the Year" Akiko Kotani and lighting by Australian designer Iain Court. Co-presented with the New Hazlett Theater.
Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh
The newly-established Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh performs works by Mozart, Barber and Tchaikovsky in its free inaugural concert conducted by Edward Leonard.
Carmen de Lavallade -- "As I Remember It"
As I Remember It is an intimate portrait of the legendary artist Carmen de Lavallade told through dance, film and her personal writings. Created by Ms. de Lavallade in collaboration with director Joe Grifasi and co-writer/dramaturg Talvin Wilks, this hour-long original work traces a career that spans over seven decades and reflects on what is remembered and what is forgotten.
Eve Apart is a new multi-media musical production that plumbs the era of Lilith and Lucifer and reimagines the Genesis story. Each act explores layered and primal themes of feminine power. With a libretto by Pittsburgher Kip Soteres, composer Tim Hinck interweaves influences from prehistoric rhythms to lush neo-impressionism to high-tech, futuristic tones and ambient electronica. Conductor Federico Garcia-De Castro leads a cast featuring soprano Desiree Soteres.
