Isle of the Dead
Rachmaninoff's brooding tone poem The Isle of the Dead and his melancholic Symphony No. 3 bookend this program with haunting themes, both quoting from the Latin hymn Dies Irae. Also, violinist Nicola Benedetti gives the PSO debut of Szymanowski's Concerto No. 1. Juraj Valcuha conducts.
Charles Courtney Curran: Seeking the Ideal
French-trained American artist Charles Courtney Curran (1861-1942) is known for his sparkling canvasses of women in gardens and other outdoor settings. Curran brought the broken brushstrokes and sun-drenched palette of French Impressionist painting to a distinctly American landscape - creating many of his works along the shores of Lake Erie and in the mountain hamlet of Cragsmoor, NY.
Frida, the opera
Frida is a 1991 opera based on the life of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo with music by Robert Xavier Rodriguez. Robert Frankenberry conducts this production with Raquel Winnica Young as Frida and Sean G. Donaldson as Diego Rivera, video produced by Joe Seamans, and stage direction by Gregory Lehane.
Edgar Allan Poe: Tales of the Grotesque
Spend Halloween evening with Edgar Allan Poe as he meets a mysterious stranger in a seedy tavern and begins a conversation that both reveals and changes his views on poetry, love, and death. As Poe shares several of his short stories and poems, the audience explores the struggle and the melancholy, the horror and the grotesque of his life and work.

The world premiere of Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde adapted by Bruce Hall. Performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm, Sundays at 2:30.
Storyteller: The Photographs of Duane Michals
This definitive retrospective and largest-ever presentation of this innovative artist's work is organized by CMOA's Linda Benedict-Jones. Drawing from select loans and the museum's holdings, which constitute the largest single collection of Michals's six-decade output, the works in Storyteller include classic sequences from the early 1970s as well as rarely seen images from later in the McKeesport native's career.
The Magical Music of Disney
Disney fans young and old will enjoy the great tunes from Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Aladdin and much more performed live with memorable Disney animation.
Mildred Miller International Voice Competition
The panel of judges includes Mildred Miller Posvar, Robert Chafin, Robert Croan, Kevin Glavin, Eugene Perry, and Maria Spacagna. Winners receive up to $5,000 and contracts to perform in SummerFest 2015 productions. Saturday's semi-finals at the Mellon Institute Auditorium feature up to 20 competitors, and Sunday's finals, hosted by Anna Singer of WQED 89.3, will include up to eight singers at the Twentieth Century Club.
Michael Clark Company
The rebellious sensibilities of British dance iconoclast Michael Clark fuses extreme elements of classical and punk. He consistently breaks new ground to provoke and electrify audiences. Clark's critically-acclaimed work "come, been and gone" features the music of 1970s rock legends David Bowie and Iggy Pop. At once sensual and damaged, Clark's masterpiece "Swamp" is drenched in exquisitely textured patterns of movement.

Jeffrey Turner conducts a program including the Ruslan and Lyudmila Overture by Glinka, Symphony No. 7 by Beethoven, and the Concerto in F by Gershwin featuring pianist David Allen Wehr.
Sounds Upstairs: Open Wide!
David Mahler - Open Wide: Explorations for Two or More Voices features playful music-making plotted by composers from the 1960s to today, with ear-opening excursions for the curious. In the 2nd floor International Poetry Room.

Prime Stage's annual gala features renowned coroner Dr. Cyril Wecht in a presentation and book signing on the set of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
A musical tribute to the men and women who defend America featuring the Armed Forces Salute, Hymn to the Fallen, I'm Proud To Be An American, and other patriotic music. The North Star Kids will perform their acclaimed Patriotic Medley. Each concert will feature a Color Guard and a 'local hero' sharing a personal story. Donations will be collected for local veterans' charities.
