Musical Kids is an initiative to recognize and showcase young musicians in grades six to eight.

Young musicians are invited to enter Musical Kids by submitting their performance recording, entry form and parental consent form by February 14, 2014. (Be sure to read the Musical Kids Rules & Guidelines first!) WQED staff will review all entries to determine finalists.

Next WQED will make video recordings of the finalists' performances available on this page. The public will be invited to vote for their favorite performer. Voting will take place from April 11– April 30.

Finally, a panel of judges from Pittsburgh’s classical music scene will choose five "Musical Kids", and an online Audience Vote will choose a sixth, to perform on a Performance in Pittsburgh show in May.

Each of the six winners will be presented with a plaque and various gifts (TBD) at an event at their school.
