Emerson String Quartet
The multi-Grammy winning quartet plays Mozart's Quartet in E-flat Major, K. 428; Britten's Quartet #3, and Mendelssohn's "Razumovsky" Quartet in C major, Op. 59 #3. it's the Emerson's first Pittsburgh concert with their new cellist, Paul Watkins. A pre-show lobby concert features the Reed III trio.

Pittsburgh Foundation's Day of Giving
The Pittsburgh Foundation apportions funds from its matching pool based on how much is donated online to nonprofit organization. If the pool contains $750,000 and $8,000,000 is donated, then the match is 9 cents on the dollar. Approximately $750,000 will be available for Allegheny County organizations and about $100,000 for Westmoreland County organizations.

Carmina Burana
O Fortuna! The BNY Mellon Grand Classics season opens with one of the most recognizable works of all time, Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. Based on a collection of lusty medieval poetry, this choral masterpiece has been heard countless times in film, television and even at professional sports events. Also, the PSO plays Beethoven's Fidelio Overture and world-premieres the Symphony #6 by one of its Pittsburgh Composers of the Year, David Stock.

2013 Carnegie International
Initiated by Andrew Carnegie in 1896, the Carnegie International is among the leading exhibitions of contemporary art worldwide. The 2013 exhibition brings together 35 artists from 19 countries, including a series of large-scale commissions throughout the museum and beyond. A playground, designed in 1972, and installed outside the museum entrance, highlights an exhibition of postwar playground architecture. An ambitious reinstallation of Carnegie Museum of Art's permanent collection of modern and contemporary art will explore the International's legacy and unique history. Finally, the Carnegie International engages with neighborhoods through the Lawrenceville Apartment Talks, which began in 2011.
