After six months of gathering music, movie dialogue, and shaping and re-shaping the storyline, the concept developed into a show acclaimed across all demographics. Concert 2 - The Cage Variations
Ted Hearne's newly-commissioned The Cage Variations is a set of variations on Charles Ives' philosophical and hypnotic song "The Cage." The 12 variations are built entirely from shards of music by contemporary American composers. This colorful and prismatic program also includes each of the sampled works, in whole or in part, in its original form. Kevin Noe conducts, with Timothy Jones, baritone.

Ariadne auf Naxos
Elizabeth Baldwin, winner of the 2013 Mildred Miller International Voice Competition, makes her SummerFest debut in the title role of Ariadne. This opera by Richard Strauss brings together slapstick comedy and consummately beautiful music in an exploration of the competition between high and low art as the haughty title character, Ariadne, and the spitfire Zerbinetta vie for the public's attention.
