The 25th anniversary of Persad's largest fundraiser and premiere art auction in southwestern Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh International Childrens Festival
The Festival offers 65 performances in 5 venues with performers from Australia, Russia, Ireland, the United Kingdom and United States. Attending a performance engages audiences with different cultures and perspectives, as well as exposes them to different mediums for expressing ideas and stories, such as puppetry, soundscapes, music, movement, and dance.

Elgar, Grieg & Ravel
Ukrainian-born pianist and YouTube phenom Valentina Lisitsa performs Grieg's much-loved Piano Concerto. Then, Yan Pascal Tortelier conducts Osvaldo Golijov's "Siderius," co-commissioned by the PSO. After intermission, one of Ravel's first works for orchestra, Rapsodie Espagnole, inspired by the Spanish folk tunes sung by Ravel's mother. Elgar's "Alassio" was inspired by the town on the Italian Riviera where Elgar and his family vacationed.

All-Russian Concert with pianist Stewart Goodyear
Known for his elegant and exquisite technique, Stewart Goodyear gives his virtuosic performance of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto #1. The season concludes with the dramatic intensity of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10 composed in the wake of Stalin's death. André Raphel also conducts Mussorgsky's Khovantchina Overture.
