Pittsburgh Chamber Players
The Pittsburgh Chamber Players features cellist Mikhail Istomin, violinist Jennfer Orchard, and PSO Concertmaster Noah Bendix-Balgley, et al. Repertoire includes Ginastera's Impressiones de la Puna for flute & string quartet, Reza Vali's Folk Songs #9 for flute & cello, Brahms' Piano Quintet, and a mystery piece. August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean
Free admission. This play features the potent power of Aunt Ester, August Wilson's gatekeeper to spiritual matters, and the hearts of the Hill residents she loves. When Aunt Ester opens her home to the troubled Citizen Bartow, a recent migrant from the rural South, a battle ensues not only within Citizen, who begs Aunt Ester to "wash his soul," but also between Citizen & Caesar Wilkes, a stern man of the law, threatened by Citizen's independence and defiance of his authority.. Three consummate performers, six puppets, original animation, & other numerous moving parts, all combine to tell the story of an ordinary, little man, made of clay and wood struggling with love & life's fickle tango.

Free Palace Theater Tours
One-hour tours include interesting facts and trivia about The Palace and former Manos Theatre, a vaudeville and movie house that opened in 1926. The 1369-seat theater hosts more than 100 events each year. A newspapers from 1926 that detailed the Manos Theatre's opening will be on view.  Info will be available about upcoming shows at The Palace Theatre, owned and managed by the Westmoreland Cultural Trust.

Scaife Galleries Reopening
Reorganized by Louise Lippincott, CMOA's Scaife galleries highlight the museum's strengths in Impressionism, sculpture, Realism, and Aestheticism, providing a much more cohesive view of how art history has changed over time. New interpretive texts provide a deeper context and understanding of art and life from 1860 to 1920.
