French Music for Harp and Strings
Violinist Dawn Posey and harpist Nuiko Wadden (members of the Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra) will present a program of French music including works by Jacques Ibert, Andre Caplet, Maurice Ravel and the premiere of a new duo by Pittsburgh composer Mark Fromm. Guest artists: Katie Pierson, violin; Marylene Gingras Roy, viola; and Katya Janpoladyan, cello. Suggested donation: $10.
Big Band Brass
River City Brass swings into Big Band mode featuring the Rat Pack! Hits made famous by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and of course Sammy Davis Jr., but also big band sounds from the libraries of Glen Miller, Duke Ellington, Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich and many more! It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!
Local artists risk their creative necks to support Bricolage's 2014 season. Inspired by a 90-minute city bus ride, these artists have just 24 hours to write, direct, and memorize six new 10-minute plays. The last stop on the journey is an unforgettable performance at The New Hazlett Theater. Come Friday night to learn all the secrets, and/or hop on board Saturday for food, libations, performances, music, and a silent auction. We guarantee an amazing ride.
Carpathian Music Ensemble
Experience and evening of Eastern European folk, funk, fusion with Pitt's Carpathian Music Ensemble.
Ravel & Debussy
Guest Conductor Juraj Valcuha conducts La Mer, Debussy's colorful sonic impression of the sea, and Ravel's La Valse, a decadent impression of the Viennese waltz. Violinist Stefan Jackiw plays Korngold's Violin Concerto, and the PSO gives a world premiere to new music by Christopher Rouse.
PB&J - Channel Crossings
Chatham Baroque's Peanut Butter & Jam Sessions are designed for preschool children and their accompanying adults. Based on a model developed by the Linton Chamber Music Series in Cincinnati, PB&J is hosted by certified Kindermusik teacher Lynda Wingerd, and encourages young children to become active and enthusiastic listeners through music, dance and games. Chatham Baroque performs live, often with guest artists.
Men’s Glee Club
Joined by New York gambist Martha McGaughey, Chatham Baroque explores the distinct music styles of 17th-century France and England, featuring the sultry sounds of Marais and Couperin juxtaposed with the catchy crotchets and quavers of Simpson, Jenkins, and Lawes.

Our Young Talents and Shining Brass
A Side by Side Concert with the Johnstown Symphony Youth Orchestra includes Ives' Variations on "America", Arutiunian's Trumpet Concerto featuring Matthew Barabas, Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance March.
Austrian and Young Artists winners
Warren Davidson conducts the Rosamunde Overture by Franz Schubert, and the Emperor Waltz by Johann Strauss II, and features the PCO's Young Artist Competion Winners as well as dancers from the Ballet Academy of Pittsburgh.
Trio Nova Mundi
After its tour to Africa and appointment as Trio in Residence at Geneva College, Trio Nova Mundi performs the Piano Trio by Amy Beach, 5 Spirituals by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Trio Romantico by Manuel Ponce, and Cafre Music by Paul Schoenfield. Members are violinist Maureen Conlon Gutierrez, cellist Elisa Kohanski, and pianist Becky Billock.
Women’s Choral Ensemble
Ann Patchett returns for Literary Evening with a new collection of essays, This Is the Story of A Happy Marriage. A distinguished novelist who can match wits with Stephen Colbert, Ann Patchett is an audience favorite and here for a special reason that will be revealed.
Cabaret Series - Liz Callaway
Tony nominee and Emmy winner Liz Callaway debuted on Broadway in Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along and received a Tony Nomination for her performance in Baby. She starred in the original cast of Miss Saigon, and as Grizabella in Cats. Liz starred as Norma Desmond in Pittsburgh CLO's Sunset Boulevard. She's best known for singing in numerous animated movies including the title role in Anastasia, The Swan Princess, Aladdin and the King of Thieves. Her recordings include 4 solo albums as well as Sibling Revelry and Boom! Live at Birdland with her sister Ann Hampton Callaway.
