Faked, Forgotten, Found: Five Renaissance Paintings Investigated
Museum curators and conservators recently uncovered a 16th-century painting beneath the surface of what they suspected to be a 19th-century fake. The painting, which been in museum storage for over 30 years, was evaluated with other works in 2013, when CMOA Conservator Ellen Baxter found intriguing evidence of its origins.
