Honeck, Dvorak and Mozart
Russian pianist Yulianna Avdeeva debuts at Heinz Hall in Mozart's famous Piano Concerto #21, nicknamed "Elvira Madigan" for its inclusion in the eponymous 1967 film. Dvorak's cheerful Symphony #8 was inspired by the folk music of the composer's native Bohemia.

Verdi's Aida

Stile Antico - The Phoenix Rising
English Renaissance choral music owes its current popularity to the UK's Carnegie Trust, whose Tudor Church Music edition revived extraordinary music that had languished unperformed for centuries. Stile Antico celebrates the Carnegie Trust's centennial with a program entirely drawn from its publications, including masterpieces by Taverner, Tallis, Gibbons, White, and the exquisite five-part Mass by William Byrd.

Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra
Guest conductor Joseph Silverstein, former Music Director of the Utah and Chautauqua Symphony Orchestras and former concertmaster of the Boston Symphony leads the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra in Beethoven's Leonore Overture #3, Stravinsky's Pulcinella Suite, and Prokofiev's Symphony #1 "Classical." Mr. Silverstein will also play and conduct Mozart's Concerto Violin Concerto #4 in D Major.
