Andres Cardenes leads the Carnegie Mellon University Philharmonic in Samuel Barber's Symphony in One Movement, Beethoven's Symphony #3 "Eroica." Faculty artist Jennifer Aylmer will sing Donizetti's "Quel guardo, il cavaliere" from Don Pasquale, Mozart's "L'amero, saro costante" from Il re pastore, and Rossini's "Vorrei spiegavari il giubilo" from La cambiale di matrimonio.

Honegger's "King David"
Titled a "dramatic psalm," this retelling of le roi David consists of twenty-seven movements across three parts, and includes actors and dramatic elements interspersed with the music. Honegger's use of several musical styles ranging from Gregorian chant to Baroque to jazz allowed him to make a serious contribution to the neoclassical era. Thomas Douglas conducts.
