Tosca Puccini's melodrama Tosca was inspired by Sarah Bernhardt's portrayal in Sardou's play La Tosca. This potent tale of an opera diva who defies the most powerful and corrupt man in Rome, in life and in death, has resonated with audiences since 1900. Angela Brown and Hugo Vera as Tosca and her lover Cavaradossi make their Pittsburgh debuts, with Mark Delavan (Falstaff, 2009) returning as Tosca's nemesis Scarpia. Antony Walker conducts. 03/24/2012
