Emma Steele, violin
Emma Steele, concertmaster of the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic and finalist in the 2010 Sibelius International Violin Competition, gives her senior recital. Emma played on NPR's "From the Top" in 2002, and a few years later on PBS' "From the Top at Carnegie Hall" TV series as a member of the Ridere String Quartet.

Moses G. Hogan/Glenn E. Burleigh Choral Festival
The Pittsburgh Gospel Choir in conjunction with CCAC, will draw choral music educators, performers, choral scholars, and fans from across the USA. The Festival opens with a concert by The Pittsburgh Gospel Choir & Ensemble and Penn State's "Essence of Joy Alumni Singers." Saturday will feature Massed Choir rehearsals, and a panel of national and international composers, educators and scholars including H.T. American-born but Parisian-raised pianist Nicholas Angelich debuted last season with the Royal Philharmonic and Philadelphia Orchestra. This medalist at the Casadesus and Bachauer competitions plays Brahms' Piano Concerto #2, which is essentially a symphony in disguise. Conductor Gianadrea Noseda conducts excerpts from Berlioz' Romeo and Juliet on the first half of the concert.
