Magic of Paris Gianandrea Noseda opens the PSO's Paris Festival with early 20th century composers who revolutionized music in the City of Light. Italy's Alfredo Cassella studied at the Paris Conservatory and befriended Debussy and de Falla. His Symphony #2 is inspired by Gustav Mahler's music. Frenchman Claude Debussy's colorful Ibéria complements Spaniard de Falla's Three-Cornered Hat, a pantomime commissioned for Diaghalev's famed Ballets Russes. 04/27/2012

Abduction from the Seraglio Mozart's opera follows the adventures of a young Spanish nobleman, his lover, and their servants who are kidnapped and placed into service to the Pasha, Abduction features showpiece arias alongside moments of uproarious laughter and genuine pathos. The production places the action on the luxurious Orient Express. Two stars of 2010's Barber of Seville return in another comic pairing: David Portillo as the nobleman Belmonte, and Paolo Pecchioli as the Pasha's right-hand man, Osmin.
