The Education Partnership gives free school and hygiene supplies to at-risk children in a six-county region. 32,000 students qualify for support, many from the Pittsburgh Public Schools. WQED is pleased to partner with The Education Partnership to distribute high-quality PBS educational materials, including lesson plans, video, interactive materials, and career exploration resources, to 5,200 students and their teachers in support of The Education Partnership’s 2011 Holiday Campaign.
You can help! As part of our iQ: smartmedia initiative, WQED will donate up to 1,700 pounds of classroom materials to The Education Partnership from some of our favorite PBS and WQED shows, like The Electric Company, SuperWhy, Dinosaur Train, and Teens OnQ. We challenge the Pittsburgh community to match that amount! Drop off your school supply donations between 2:30 and 4:30 pm daily from December 6 to December 9 at WQED's parking lot, located at 4802 Fifth Avenue. You can even meet a character from SuperWhy! Characters will make appearances daily throughout the drive; check our Facebook and Twitter for exact times. Learn about what to donate. [PDF]
