iQ Kids Radio is a collaboration between WQED and The Saturday Light Brigade, that asks families to listen, imaginatively together. iQ Kids Radio is a trusted source for media that caregivers can rely on and enjoy themselves. iQ Kids Radio will be a safe, entertaining and fun way to learn, listen, laugh and much more. Available through internet streaming, iQ Kids Radio is the go-to place for listening to learn.
iQ Kids Radio is supported by the Junior League of Pittsburgh, a founding partner.
This educational effort combines all the age-appropriate disciplines – literacy, science, music appreciation, geography and more – into packaged shows for national distribution including StoryTelling, Language Lessons, Music Appreciation, Children’s Literature, Science, and super kid journalists reporting on current events for kids, from a kids’ perspective. In addition, iQ Kids Radio features music from diverse genres, including music performed by kids themselves.

As iQ Kids Radio is created, we’ve look to you to tell us how you and the kids around you currently listen and what they DESERVE to listen to.
For example, choices for kids radio are limited such that 34% of you said you are dissatisfied with radio choices for kids. Only 12% are very satisfied with the content of radio for kids currently available.
Kids are listening to radio on the weekends (59%) and afterschool (58%)!
Your top five musical content choices are Children’s Artists, Classical/Instrumental, Global, Folk and Sing-Along. A whopping 89% want to hear storytelling and audiobooks for children. And 73% of you want to hear from kids themselves.
