Dinosaur Train

Dinosaur Train embraces and celebrates the fascination that preschoolers have with both dinosaurs and trains, while encouraging basic scientific thinking skills as the audience learns about life science, natural history, and paleontology. Each half-hour episode features Buddy, an preschool-age Tyrannosaurus Rex, and includes two 11-minute animated stories along with brief live-action segments hosted by renowned paleontologist Dr. Scott Sampson. Young viewers can join Buddy and his adoptive Pteranodon family on a whimsical voyage through prehistoric jungles, swamps, volcanoes, and oceans.

For Educators

Harnessing their enthusiasm for and curiosity about dinosaurs, Dinosaur Train sparks children's interests in life science and natural history. As children ages 3-6 explore a variety of interesting animals (both past and present), they develop the inquiry skills and core knowledge needed to help them think, talk, and act like paleontologists. Dinosaur Train encourages children to compare the characteristics of ancient animals with those that are alive today.

  • Lesson Plans: These lesson plans use the exciting world of dinosaurs to help your students explore the natural world.
  • Episode Guide: This guide includes descriptions and educational objectives for each episode of Dinosaur Train.
