Close your eyes and imagine the house of your dreams, from the furnishings to the fixtures. That is exactly what the winners of the 12th annual Superior Interiors Home Design Awards competition did when they built and renovated their homes. Their final projects took imagination and an adventurous spirit - and a real vision for the final result.

While their projects span the whole house, there was a lot of focus on the kitchen as the center of the home and a place where family and friends can gather. Entertainment areas - both in dining and living spaces - were planned to accommodate big crowds and intimate groups, depending on the occasion.

We'll take you through dramatic transformations, inspired new constructions and redefined spaces in the homes of our six winners.

Co-sponsored by the Pittsburgh chapters of the American Institute of Architects and the American Society of Interior Designers, this year's competition was judged by three members of Cleveland, Ohio, area firms.
