Spotlighting Pittsburgh native Gertrude Stein, Ricky Ian Gordon's 27 premiered in 2014 and is already acclaimed for its "quick-witted libretto," "serious fun" and “tuneful score." 27 is named for the address of Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas's salon at 27 Rue de Fleurus in Paris, and is a humorous snapshot of the women's shared lives and their famous visitors, including Picasso, Hemingway, and Matisse. 27 is a new production starring the company's Resident Artists. PB&J is hosted by certified Kindermusik teacher Lynda Wingerd, and encouragse young children to become active and enthusiastic listeners through music, dance and games. Bach's gospel truth as revealed by music director Manfred Honeck, vocal soloists, and the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh. Samuel Helfrich directs this semi-staged production of Bach's profound St. John Passion, a sacred oratorio using scripture from the Gospel of John, which was composed for Good Friday Vespers in Leipzig in 1724.
