HOLIDAY PROGRAMMING THE WHOLE FAMILY CAN ENJOY
WQED-TV, WQED: The Neighborhood Channel and
WQED-FM 89.3 Announce 2010 Holiday Schedule


PITTSBURGH—WQED Pittsburgh will celebrate the 2010 holiday season with diverse, entertaining programming on WQED-TV (13.1 digital), WQED: The Neighborhood Channel (13.3 digital) and Classical WQED-FM 89.3 (WQEJ-FM 89.7 in Johnstown) throughout December 2010.

While you and your family are opening presents by the tree, WQED-TV will air special children’s programming Christmas Day from 6 a.m.-10:30 a.m. including the new holiday favorite, Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas at 6 a.m. The celebration continues with delicious family recipes from restaurateur and Chef Lidia Bastianich in Nonna Tell Me a Story: Lidia’s Christmas Kitchen at 11:30 a.m. and, broadcast for the first-time-ever, The B.E. Taylor Christmas Concert from 2009’s performance at Heinz Hall at 8 p.m.

December’s “Happy Holidays” theme continues on WQED: The Neighborhood Channel with favorites including: OnQ Christmas Stories Through the Years—Dave Crawley’s look at Nemacolin Castle during Christmas in Fayette County; Rick Sebak’s Happy Holidays in Pittsburgh; and several Holiday Jam specials, full of musical performances with local artists including Joe Negri, Carol Lee Espy and Scott Anderson. Holiday programming will be in rotation throughout the month, 24 hours a day, seven days a week on WQED: The Neighborhood Channel.

Classical WQED-FM 89.3 continues the celebration with inspiring holiday favorites from local performances including the Heinz Chapel Choir Holiday Concert on Friday, December 10 at 8 p.m., the Carnegie Mellon Holiday Concert on Thursday, December 23 at noon and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Handel’s Messiah on Christmas Eve at 8 p.m.
