NOMINATE ARTS ORGANIZATION VOLUNTEERS FOR 22ND ANNUAL DOMINION VOLUNTEER IN THE ARTS (VITA) AWARDS

PITTSBURGH—Dominion and WQED are requesting nominations from throughout western Pennsylvania for the 22nd Annual Volunteer in the Arts Awards.

The VITA Awards are just one way Dominion and WQED demonstrate their appreciation for the many nonprofit arts organizations throughout the region. The Dominion VITA awards were established in 1988 in order to recognize efforts of volunteers who, through their time and service, help keep nonprofit arts organization lively and prospering.

The VITA awardees will be selected from nominated members by a blue ribbon committee. The winners will receive $2,500 grants for their respective arts organizations, in honor of their volunteerism.

For 22 years, Dominion and WQED have worked in a joint partnership for the VITA Awards. The awards are funded by an annual grant from Dominion Foundation. The Dominion Foundation is dedicated to improving the economic, physical and social health of the communities served by Dominion companies. The Dominion Foundation contributes almost $15 million annually to these nonprofit organizations in 14 states.

This year, the VITA Awards will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, in Concourse A, on Friday, October 15, 2010 from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
