PITTSBURGH—Many in the Pittsburgh region are aware that WQED is the production home for a plethora of local programs and the location where Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood was taped for more than forty years.

Few, however, know that its state-of-the-art Oakland studios and services are available for rent to production companies, advertisers and businesses worldwide. On Thursday, April 21 WQED will hold two WQED Facilities Open House events at 4802 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 from 8-10 a.m. and 5-8 p.m. for anyone interested in using WQED’s studios or facilities for their next production.

WQED’s fully HD facilities are available for field shooting, studio production and editing and graphics. With three studios, two control rooms, four editing suites, and an experienced professional staff, WQED can host a production of nearly any size. Simple bare-wall rentals, one camera satellite uplinks, commercials, teleconferences, live feed concerts, satellite media tours, and movie shoots are just some of the production activities that happen at WQED’s studios regularly.

Recent productions taped at WQED include One for the Money (2011) with Golden Globe nominee Katherine Heigl and Emmy® Award winner John Leguizamo (scheduled for release in January 2012) and distributed by Lionsgate and the Sweet and Wild CD release party of four-time Grammy® nominated musician Jewel last summer.

To make reservations for the WQED Facilities Open House contact Lisa Przyborski at lprzyborski@wqed.org or 412-622-1395.

WQED Pittsburgh, honored with the 2007 and 2006 Mid-Atlantic Emmy® Award for Station Excellence, was founded in 1954 as the nation’s first community-supported broadcaster.
