Entrants for this prestigious national award go through a highly selective process of preliminary screening and blue ribbon judging.

For more than 40 years, Catholic Academy for Communication Arts Professionals has sponsored the Gabriel Awards, honoring broadcasting excellence that serves viewers through positive, creative treatment of concerns to humankind.

OnQ's documentary "From Pittsburgh To Poland: Lessons of the Holocaust" has received the Edward R. Murrow Award for Outstanding News Documentary.

The Radio-Television News Director Association has honored outstanding achievement in electronic journalism with the Murrow Awards since 1971. Earlier this month, 28 radio and television news managers from markets across the country spent three days judging the entries.

WQED's entry won in the region which includes Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. Regional winners automatically become eligible for the national awards competition, which will be judged in early June. The national Edward R. Murrow Awards will be presented on October 16 at a dinner in New York.
