National Negro Opera Company
An OnQ Special Feature
There are new efforts to restore the now-dilapidated home where Mary Cardwell Dawson founded the National Negro Opera Company in 1941. The grand Victorian-style house on the border of Pittsburgh's Homewood and Lincoln-Lemington neighborhoods was also dubbed "Mystery Manor" because of the "comings and goings" of celebrities, athletes and business people.
