SolePower

SolePower

SolePower is a Pittsburgh-based hardware startup with a focus on energy harvesting, which was founded in 2012 by two Carnegie Mellon mechanical engineers. Currently it is developing power-generating insoles that convert human stepping motion into usable electrical energy. The SolePower insoles will meet the universal need for a mobile, renewable power source as well as provide people living without electricity with the ability to generate their own. In only one year, the company has received seed investment, built alpha and beta prototypes, placed in multiple venture competitions, and was successfully funded on Kickstarter.
