A Travel Day to Bucharest - Sep 7, 2017

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra traveled to Bucharest today, where they will perform a concert tonight of Dvorak, Mahler and Tchaikovsky.  WQED-FM's Jim Cunningham was in flight, so he was unable to call in at 8:30am.  But our own Anna Singer played some interview clips from violist Tatjana Mead Chamis and tympanist Ed Stephan prior to their Lucerne Festival concert.   

Post Concert in Bucharest - Sep 7, 2017

The Orchestra in Lucerne - Sep 5, 2017

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra arrived safe and sound from London to Lucerne.  Tomorrow evening they perform at the Lucerne Festival in a program of Dvorak and Tchaikovsky.   WQED-FM's Jim Cunningham checks in to talk about the sights of the famous Swiss city and to preview the orchestra's concert Wednesday night.  You also hear from Bill Flanagan, Chief Corporate Relations Officer for the Allegheny Conference, who talks about what a great ambassador the Pittsburgh Symphony is for the city of Pittsburgh, along with Mrs. Fred Rogers, Joanne Rogers, who was at the BBC Proms concert.

Reaction from the BBC Proms - Sep 4, 2017

WQED-FM's Jim Cunningham reports in after the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's BBC Proms concert at the Royal Albert Hall.   David Pickard, Director of the BBC Proms, explains how he's never seen the Pittsburgh Symphony live, so he was looking forward to the concert.  You also hear from PSO Principal Oboe Nancy Goeres about the tour and she explains how much fun it is to play at the BBC Proms.
