The Empowered Patient

This documentary explores the new role of patients and healthcare providers in a world where information is more readily available than ever before. With patients doing more of their own research and connecting with other patients on-line,  healthcare providers are often interacting with more engaged, informed and empowered patients. Are doctors and nurses ready to embrace this change? Are medical students prepared to encounter more educated patients? Is a more informed patient a "better" patient?

The Empowered Patient aired on Jun 19, 2014.
