All-Russian Concert with pianist Stewart Goodyear
Known for his elegant and exquisite technique, Stewart Goodyear gives his virtuosic performance of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto #1. The season concludes with the dramatic intensity of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10 composed in the wake of Stalin's death. André Raphel also conducts Mussorgsky's Khovantchina Overture.

Elgar, Grieg & Ravel
Ukrainian-born pianist and YouTube phenom Valentina Lisitsa performs Grieg's much-loved Piano Concerto. Then, Yan Pascal Tortelier conducts Osvaldo Golijov's "Siderius," co-commissioned by the PSO. After intermission, one of Ravel's first works for orchestra, Rapsodie Espagnole, inspired by the Spanish folk tunes sung by Ravel's mother. Elgar's "Alassio" was inspired by the town on the Italian Riviera where Elgar and his family vacationed.

American Portrait
Two Pittsburgh premieres, "An American Te Deum" by Randall Stroope and "South Dakota Shadows Suite" by Jackson Berkey will be sung by Concentio and Chamber Choirs, respectively, with strings and piano. Additional works include three traditional American Hymns by Aaron Copland, selections from Randall Thompson's "Frostiana," Eric Whitacre's hauntingly beautiful "Seal Lullaby," Jocelyn Hagan's "Joy", and a set of spirituals.

Warren Davison conducts the orchestra's season finale, including Dvorak's Symphony #9, "From the New World;" Weber's Andante and Hungarian Rondo, featuring bassoonist Alicia Whitney; Johann Strauss' Wine, Women and Song; and Serenade by the Hungarian composer Gyula Beliczay.  Tickets are available at the door.

Season Finale with pianist Hanna Che
Music Director Lawrence Loh features pianist Hannah Che, 17, winner of PYSO's Concerto Competition, in the first movement of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto #2. Hannah has soloed with the McKeesport and Butler County Symphony Orchestras, and plays in PYSO's first violin section. The program also includes the finale to Mahler's Symphony #1 and Saint-Saens' Bacchanale from Samson and Delilah, with 30 PYSO alumni augmenting the orchestra.
