Unleashed: Artist Party & Dog Fashion Show
GPAC's and The Pittsburgh Foundation's Arts Day of Giving (a.k.a. ArtsDOG) returns on Oct. 2nd. In anticipation, dogs will compete for costume prizes while party goers enjoy food, drink, and entertainment with emcees PhatManDee and Hollyhood. Celebrities including WQED's Jim Cunningham will introduce and react to each dog on the catwalk. Five artists picked at random at the party will receive "Unleashed" grants.

42nd Street
The curtain goes up on a new season with music from Jesus Christ Superstar, The Wizard of Oz, and Wicked, plus classic songs from Showboat, Annie Get Your Gun and The Sound of Music. And as a finale, Al Dubin and Harry Warren's award-winning 42nd Street with tap dancers from Pittsburgh's CAPA. Featured guest: international trumpet star Jens Lindemann.

Of Mice and Men
John Steinbeck's timeless and heartwrenching tale of two migrant workers in the Great Depression is directed by Robert A. Miller in the Rauh Theatre at the Pittsburgh Playhouse. The cast includes Jarrod DiGiorgi as George, Leandro Cano as Lennie, John McManus as Candy, Philip Winters as the Boss, Luke Halferty as Curley, Erin Krom as Curley’s wife, David Whalen as Slim, Weston Blakesley as Carlson, Justin Fortunato as Whit and Tommy LaFitte as Crooks.

Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme
How strong is the bond between men united by the call to arms? Eight young men of Ulster, thrown together for army training during the Great War, must move beyond the troubles between Protestant and Catholic as they prepare for the Battle of the Somme. Directed by Matt Torney, Frank McGuinness' lyrical play captures the fierce friendship and loyalty among men who must face the wickedness and wastefulness of war.

First Fridays at the Frick - Sean Jones Quartet
Sean Jones, the world-renowned trumpeter and Duquesne University Associate Professor of Jazz Studies, is one of the most expressive, versatile and gifted players and composers of his generation. In addition to being a lead trumpeter for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Jones has performs with his own groups in the U.S. and abroad.

From Bach to Gershwin @ Eden Hall
An evening of elegant melodies from Bach to Gershwin will feature renowned Brazilian soprano and Pittsburgh resident Lilly Abreu, described by the Los Angeles Times as "... crystal clear soprano voice and dramatic persona." Ms. Abreu performs with members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and Chatham faculty pianist Pauline Rovkah amid a backdrop of rolling fields, forests, and apple orchard.

As You Like It
Boy (Orlando) meets girl (Rosalind). Girl dresses as boy (Ganymede). Boy and girl act out courtship while everyone in the Forest of Arden falls in love. But whose love is true? This romantic comedy has something for everyone--as you like it! Pittsburgh's intrepid troupe brings laughter and audience engagement for all ages.

Sounds Upstairs - Fifth Avenue Strings
This talented high school string quartet will perform classical, folk and fiddle favorites!

Pittsburgh Symphony Brass
The PSO's Monday Night Neighborhood Series begins with the Pittsburgh Symphony Brass performing a program of spiritual works and readings exploring the spiritual nature and influences on music. Concerts are free and open to the public, but seats must be reserved online. The series is part of the Music for the Spirit Program and is curated and arranged by Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra musicians.
