Big Wheel Keeps on Turning - For hundreds of years, the goddess Fortune and her wheel have offered us a way to comprehend the unpredictability of life. On this episode of Harmonia, we'll look back to the fourteenth century and explore the appearances of Fortune in music as people try to make sense of famine, plague, and political strife.

Sunday Baroque
Georg Philipp Telemann had a long and productive career in his 86 years, cultivating a reputation as a highly respected and admired musician. He was an innovator who composed one of the earliest viola concertos, and an educator who wrote charming musical exercises. Telemann was also a savvy businessman who packaged his musical collections to sell by subscription. And he wrote a record-setting number of compositions – enough to earn the Guinness Book of World Records as history's most prolific composer. In his lifetime, Telemann was as famous -- maybe even MORE so -- than his close friend Johann Sebastian Bach. Sunday Baroque will celebrate Telemann's legacy with highlights by the creative and innovative composer.
